CONSULAR LEGALISATION
Consular legalisation is often also known as legalisation/ legalization. Documents which are going to a country which is not signed up to the Hague Treaty (most countries of the Middle East and some in Asia) will often need consular legalisation. Consular legalisation occurs after documents have been notarised by a notary public and apostilled by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The documents are taken to the Consulate of the country where the documents are destined who will attach their own certificate to the document. This consular certificate authenticates the apostille attached by the FCO.
